What we collect (very little), what stays in your browser and why there is no account.

Updated 2026-10-09

The short version: there are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking scripts. Your pet’s details are not stored on our server.

Your trip and your pet’s details

When you make a plan, the trip and any pet details you enter become part of the web address of the plan, so the page can be shared, bookmarked and printed. Our server uses them to build the page and does not keep them. If you share the address, you share those details.

What stays in your browser

  • Remembered pet details, only if you tick “Remember my pet’s details in this browser”. Stored with your browser’s local storage on your device; clear it with “Forget the saved details” or by clearing site data.
  • Ticked-off steps on a plan, stored in the same way so your progress survives a reload.
  • Your light or dark choice.

We do not set cookies.

Reports you send us

If you use “Report a mistake”, we store the text you write, the topic, the page or route it was about and the time. Don’t include personal details you don’t want us to read. We do not ask for your name or email, and we cannot reply to a report; corrections show up in what changed. To limit abuse, the server briefly keeps a one-way hash of the sender’s network address in memory only; it is never written to the database.

Server logs

Like any web server, the hosting software may keep short-lived access logs (address, page requested, time) for security and troubleshooting. We don’t use them to profile visitors.

Third parties

Pawhopper loads no third-party scripts, fonts or analytics. Links to official government pages leave this site and are governed by those sites’ policies.

Your rights

Because we don’t keep personal data, there is normally nothing to access or delete. If you sent a report and want it removed, include a way to identify it in a new report and we will delete it.
